Bad Timing!

I'm at a loss this holiday season!  Just when things are looking up! With all of our ducks in a row,  a big ass wave drowns them all.  Friday, my husband was let go at his job. He was the bread winning of the two of us. Last year we finally broke down and bought a newer van thinking he was all set at his job of 19 years!! Mine 11 years! Now if he is unable to find something soon we are going to have to make some big changes. Ones I'm just not ready for. We have worked so hard to get where we are today.

This has only been 3 days and I will get over my little pity party. We have our health which I'm thankful for, but no health insurance.  We have a home, I pray we can keep!, but no matter what, I will always have my family. Where ever they are, we will call home.

I pray this is one of those things that happen for a reason! Like a better job that pays more and cares for their employees!  That would be nice!  In 10 years we will look back at this moment and laugh!

New Displays and Items

As you can see I did not write the other day like I said I would. This pesky thing called "life" keeps getting in the way.  I have finally found time to sit down in a quiet room to be able to blog.  As I sit here I can hear Canadian geese fly over the house. The weather outside is getting cold, which is making me stay inside where it nice and warm, allowing me to working on jewelry.  I have been getting many custom orders to do, like this Breast Cancer Awareness Necklace.

The next two trees are sun catchers that I made for two people who helped me out during Cans For A Cure in October.

These are another Christmas order. Red trees of life with a cardinals.

While I have been busy with Christmas orders, I have also been making displays for the Secret Garden where I sell my jewelry.  I took an old picture frame painted it white then scuffed it to make it shabby chic. I then added wallpaper on the back where you would put the picture. I then dug through my drawers of knobs to find three antique glass knobs to hold and display my necklaces.

For my next display I went for a walk in the woods with my dog for Gracie.

I found branches the right size for my display. I cut them and brought them home.

I spray painted them white.

Next I had to go through my extra pieces of wood to find small blocks that were different sizes.  I then sanded them down, nailed and glued them together. I then drilled holes in the tops for the branches to go in.

I painted them white, scuffed and wax them with clear wax.

The displays are now done for The Secret Garden.

Here they are in their new home!
I hope everyone one is having a great weekend.

These are some of the Trees of Life I was selling to raise money.

Today when I was at work, I got a text from my son asking if I wanted to going hiking after work. How could I say no to my 16 year old son, who wants to hanging out with his mother!! I will spend time with him when ever he wants!  Knowing soon he won't want to hang out with his old mother hehe.

We had a great time. The smell of Autumn. Having the time to talk with Joshua and hear what he has to say means the world to me. I'm glad we get these times together.   He did a great job taking pictures today to!

A great way to end a Monday!

Switching It Up!

I have been making round Tree of Life pendents for a while now.  So I'm going to start making rectangle one for something a little different.

I really have to pick up more brown wire for my trees. I love the way it looks.

I also think the bird give it a nice touch.

I have some flowers I'm going to try out on my next set of tree!

Please give me some feed back! I would love to hear what you think of my work, even if it's things you don't like. It's the only way I will get better !

Crazy Busy Weekend

Saturday morning started out with a Homecoming Parade.  My nephew Nathan was  in it with his youth football team. It was a great turn out!

Each high school class worked on their class floats.

You can't have football with cheerleaders!

The parade ends at the football field and started a little after. The Home team won!! After the game it was time to get ready for the Homecoming Dance. Josh made my eyes water when I saw him. He is turning out to be a well rounded young man! I'm so proud of him and how far he has come.

Joshua and his date Katie. I think they make a very cute couple, but they just went as friends.

Sunday it was a beautiful day but I will have to say...... I never went out. I worked all day in the basement working on long over do projects.  Here is a sneak peek at whats to come!

Black shelf needed to be scuffed and waxed.

Here is a corner cupboard that my loving husband picked up at a yard sale for only $5.00.  Can't wait for you to see how it comes out!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Would love to hear how yours was in my comments!!

This morning I was getting worried because not many people were getting a hold of me about donations.  By noon I was getting messages for can drop offs and people wanting to buy necklaces.
We have our first total...... $117.00!!  It's crazy how many people are effected by Breast Cancer!   Everyone that has bought my Breast Cancer Tree Of Life necklaces knows someone who has had cancer,  fighting it or them themselves have it. It's hard sometimes because you hear the stories of passed loved ones, and what they meant to everyone.  You hear the stories of how they or their loved one are fighting the battle. The best stories are the ones who are now cancer free! That is why we raise the money for the Cancer Foundation!  We need help fight this battle and win!

Day Job

I wanted to share a little bit of what I do at my day job, Morin's Fine Furniture.  I have worked there over 11 years.  We have moved two times and have lost two great men ( more like family) that meant a lot to the company,. Who now watch over us from above. I have had my up and down there but wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Over all I have been working with furniture for 16 years. I just can't seem to get enough of it. I love working with my hands.

These chairs were sanded down then painted white by Dana who works with me. I had to cane them.

6 chairs came in today to be glued. I was able to knock 3 of the apart and glue them until I ran out of clamps. The other 3 will be done tomorrow.

I removed the old caning from the back of the back of the chair.

I replace it with new caning!

2 speakers came in to be refinished.  They were handmade by the woman's brother who had passed away.  They have a lot of memories for her.

I have been doing a lot of gluing lately.

A little stool really needed to be glued!

I hoping to keep showing you projects as I go. These are kind of the plan Janes. I can't wait for some of the beautiful pieces to come through!
